As of right now, he didnt tell me to change my RAI date. We'll see.

We talked about the thyrogen route, but for some reason my doc decided against it. I dont know exactly why. My impression is that it had to do with the severity of my cancer, but that might be wrong. Anyway, he did say that there is a shortage of it, and im not getting it.

As far as being a better cook goes, i think thats debatable. So far ive basically spent alot of energy and time trying to figure how to fry everything, which as you know has been met with varying success. Those biscuits you mentioned on facebook sounded tasty! I was actually taking that before I started my LID and had to stop...but the good news is at least it does leave your system way faster than Synthroid so you might not be set back too bad.

Have you talked to your doctor about it yet? Cuz there's a drug called Thyrogen that they sometimes give people before RAI treatments or scans so they don't have to go off their meds at all. They just inject you with it (two shots in the butt!) a few days before RAI and for some reason that I still don't understand it makes up for not being off of synthroid/liothyronine for two weeks. Last I heard they might actually be running low and only giving it to certain types of patients and it's kind of expensive but it might be worth asking your doctor about.

I hate being on this diet for extra-long too. But at least we'll be better cooks, no?

- RGAnna N.https://www.blogger.com/profile/18061521769858952616noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5823218131008634460.post-61116083609807427812010-08-23T09:38:59.261-07:002010-08-23T09:38:59.261-07:00Hey Nick,
I'm glad your diet is going okay. E...Hey Nick,

I'm glad your diet is going okay. Except for the grease fire, of course. :-P

Not to scare you or anything - because you will definitely feel better once you're on Synthroid - but it usually takes a long time for your endo to get your dose right. Often for at least the first year you'll go back and forth between being too hypo- and too hyper-thyroid. That pretty much happens to all of us. You'll probably know when you find the right dose because you'll finally actually feel normal. And then if you're like me that's when you'll get sick again. :( But that won't happen to you! Because you will be totally healed. :)

And you will definitely not feel as bad on any dose of Synthroid as you do right now. Again, sorry for negativity, I just feel like sometimes doctors don't totally prepare people for the reality of adjusting to thyroid meds and I didn't want you to be surprised.

Hope things continue to go as well as possible. And I think you should keep doing the song lyrics; I like them.

- RGAnna N.https://www.blogger.com/profile/18061521769858952616noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5823218131008634460.post-58725959054520992612010-08-18T19:00:01.979-07:002010-08-18T19:00:01.979-07:00I happen to really dig references to Bon Jovi :) ...I happen to really dig references to Bon Jovi :) Keep 'em coming.
